Dragonfly managing partner Haseeb Qureshi has unveiled a radical proposal to reform token airdrops, advocating for a reputation-based system to replace the current model. The framework, shared via X on Sept. 15, aims to curb speculative dumping by aligning incentives with long-term holding behavior.

Qureshi’s plan draws inspiration from traditional IPO allocations, where institutional investors receive preferential terms due to their proven commitment. "It’s crazy that token distributions don’t work this way," he remarked, responding to critiques about airdrops creating sell pressure and shallow ecosystem alignment.

The proposed holder scores WOULD track on-chain metrics like token retention, governance participation, and protocol usage across multiple projects. Standardized JSON outputs would allow teams to incorporate this reputation data into distribution decisions—creating a cross-ecosystem accountability mechanism.
